hey guys i wanted my truck louder so i pulled the cat now it sounds terible i am thinking about adding a aero turbine any suggestions

 

what the differance bettween a resonater and a muffler

 

I left the cat, and just did a str8 pipe after it. Sounds awesome! nice growl to it

 

i pulled the cat and the muffler at one point and i ended up doing 4 diffrent set ups on my exhaust to make it what it is now and im still not 100% happy. i got a rice burner sound and i wanted a more throaty sound. i still have hits on that coffee can exhaust at low wind up and i have the aero xl and another straight thru muffler made from borla. when i went straight pipe it sounded the best but was wayyyyy to loud, plus i lost alot of low end speed. what i have now is what i recommend but thats JMO... good luck though, this post sounded like mine when ifirst changed my exhaust. post updates along the way, im curious how things work out for ya!

 

As most here will tell ya, I'm a HUGE Aero fan. I'd straight pipe it back to the Aero mounted where the stock muffler was and then out through the tail and call it a day. If you mount the Aero up where the cat was you MAY wind up with some cab drone. I've heard of no problems with it mounted back where the stock muffler was.

 

4" downpipe to 5" straight...with no mufflers 5" 90 deg elbow straight up to my 5" stacks...its loud and sexy

 

you hit the nail on the head sounds like a rice burner i am thinking about the 4040 aero i dont know i am going to buy something today to just throw on there i cant be seen ridin like this my baby is sick

 

well to be honest i still have a slight rice burner sound effect when shes cold. once she warms up its better but i step on it to hear the turbo spooling and that over powers that rice burner sound. i have an aero 4040xl and when i put just that on i still got that rice burner sound. i did mount where the cat use to be or maybe a foot back from it. i wish i would of known because the outcome might of been diffrent if i mounted where stock muffler was. i then added another straight thru muffler from borla which sounded like crap when i was just running the borla muffler. well when i added them both it cut the sound down alot but its still more noticable than stock. try the aero out in the spot the stock muffler was and let me know. it sounds like we are on the same page just at diffrent times! not sure if you found a good price on that aero but i found the 4040xl for 250$ on ebay with a 50$ gift card of your choice so it was basicly 200$ shipped.

 

I'm a big fan of the Aero just like Mafair. I have 4" to the Aero4040 where cat was and out the back. It sounds great, much better than the drone at highway speeds with the straight exhaust.

 

i went and bought a cheap dynomax 12 inch bullet no tail pipe just down pipe and the bullet hangs right at the end of my cab sounds ok at idle still a little coffe can sound when i let of the throttle but when i get on it its roars i think i still need a little back pressure going to play around maybe a chambered muffler
