Your aftermarket tranny or seperate parts are warrantied through the company you purchased through. A tranny installer is a key to a good running tranny. You should be good w/ a TC, VB & maybe a Double Deep Pan. I know the Double Deep Pan on my truck runs the fluid approx. 50* cooler than before the install. Then again I had all my tranny parts put in the sametime.

i agree with slug they probably would with some bs of " well the bigger tires put more stress on the drivetrain therefore they are the reason the tranny failed" I hate dealing with dealers anymore. I got a day off and went to check out this 06 leftover CTD with the six speed. it's msrp was 42k. had some options but not a whole lot. the dealer woudln't budge below 40k. so i just walked out. he said that 2k off sticker was more than enough. when i brought up that my dad got his for 10k off he had nothing to say. o yea and all this is after i talked with him on the phone earlier this week and he said he wants to get rid of it and he's willing to make a deal. this was the great deal he was talking about. for an 06 that's practically a two year old truck.

well what kind of leftovers are they. this was a SLT six speed 4x4 qcsb and the only real options it had were the aluminum wheels, offroad tires, block heater, clearance lamps, and a few other things. all total only like 2k mebbe in options. It wasn't a very fancy truck but I don't need super fancy. most CTD's are over 45k because they have lots of options this was only 41 but it was like 41998 or somtin so i say 42. was just ridiculous he'd only drop less than 2k on a truck he wants gone.

What is your tranny doing that means its shot? is it hooped alltogether or just not shifting or going into gear? What are the signs of it going?

I saw the '06's on sale for mid 30's last weekend here in the Sacramento area... 4x4 QC's, LB's SB's QC's etc...

Sallyman1, I dont recall saying the tranny is shot, it is however shifting funny in and out of 2nd gear. Mikes shop adjusted the bands last week and he said they are out of adjustment room and that there is something wrong with the 2nd gear bands. the fix for it was $1500 bux at his shop, the rebuild is $2500~2600 add in the TC and we're up at 3600...

wow. mine shifts ok into 2nd and 3rd . (i have 4 speed auto) my problem is in DRIVE. when i leave it in drive it is sluggish off the line like its slipping big time. In DRIVE it feels like my 1991 mercury cougar could outpull it. but when i put shifter in 1st or 2nd lookout. I could lay black marks down highway for 3-4 miles in 1st or 2nd and in DRIVE I cant even chirp the tires.
