Well there you go... Truck is @ the stealer and...
they want to tear it down before committing to a warranty repair. estimate for the teardown & and button up is $1050 bux IF DC does not cover the repair. This is why I hate dealing with dealers & warranties... I say F it, I'm ready to haul it over to my tranny shop guy and let him do the HD rebuild on it and install his recommended HD torque converter (he calls it a triple lock converter and says it should handle my requirements no problem) He is also going to put in heavy duty clutch packs.. out the door cost of $3600. I've had him rebuild 1 tranny for me and it worked great until I hit a deer with the jeep (and the tranny still worked great ) the one plus is he will stand behind his work & what he puts in it.
I have heard of issues using ATS & Suncoast trannies and am not sure whether it would make a difference or not putting one of theirs in there vs rebuilding mine...
what's your guys opinions?
oh and also, He says I'll have my truck back by monday if I get it to him today.

they would have to prove that the VB caused the problem. I dont know at this point. the way I see it is if they tear it down and dont warranty the parts & repair, I'm out $525 for tearing it down 1/2 way. I can take it over to the tranny shop I want to use but that means it'd be on a flatbed with the back of the motor un-secured and potentially flopping around if notsecured well enough which could lead to other motor mount problems.
Mike (tranny guy) says they should be able to pull the pan and see the band adjustment issue right away, actually they dont even have to pull the pan as theband adjustment is at the end.

too much headache with that. I already made the executive decision to go with the heavy duty rebuild with a new TC so I'll be dropping it off tomorrow morning.
Go to your tranny shop and put in an aftermarket tc. You will be able to handle w/ your vb and new tc alot more hp than stock. It will give you piece of mind.

yeah that's the plan. He's got a local source for after market TC's that are beefed up. Not as expensive as the ATS or suncoast but he says I should have no problems with it when matched up to my anticipated max HP/TQ numbers.
can you imagine the grief I'd get if i dared take my truck in. IMO, you're way better off going to your tranny guy.
What I've heard about ATS and/or Suncoast is.... ATS's flex plates aren't all that because they don't flex. This in turn will put more wear on the input shaft than necessary.
Suncoast has the two piece plate that with enough torque will break the center out like a stock plate. I don't think it happens much but can.
As far as the billet stuff they both sell.... I'd say billet is billet. I'm sure they all get their stuff from the same place and even if they don't.... they're probelm heat tempered the same way.
You're probably gonna be much happier and a lot less stressed staying away from the dealer

Well when I was in to the dealer for the Jake break install I asked if I could improve my transmission by putting atriple locktorque converter in it (I know you have a valve body). The service manager said anything put in or on my trucks transmission that was not factory would void my warranty. He then told me that Dodge had refused a fewwarranty clamsat his dealership due toafter market products being added such as transmission, injectors, programmers etc.And thin said in a nutshell anything that will enhance the trucks performance . So good luck
