I think your on the right track. . .see what is more cost effective. I'm just wondering if the 5.9 blockhas enough meatbe bored out to 6.7L spec. get ahold of some 6.7L pistons and ceramic coat the thing.
The 6.7 has a 107mm bore x 124mm stroke, while the 5.9 has 102mm bore x 120mm stroke (perks of being in manufacturing). The 6.7 shares 40% of it's parts with the 5.9. I'm not sure if the block is shared or not. A good engine builder will know if there is enough stock to remove without weekening the block. I still say forged steel will fare better than coated aluminum.

I kow the block is different, 1-2 3-4 5-6 are siamesed just due to the inlarged displacement.

steel pistons ceramic coated would be sweet.

Siamesed, wonder if there is going to be cooling issue?

trying to push it to a 6.7 would be a headache... I say get the cylinders bored to the next size up, coated pistons and be done with it. put the rest of the bux into the head & firinging the block (if needed) & head. Get a new set of cams, port & polish the head and the SS valves he mentioned. mount up that new turbo that is sitting in the garage and make that puppy sing again...

Aren't there any local machine shops that you could take the block to to have the work done without having to ship it anywhwere? Gas, diesel, whatever, boring a block is boring a block, it's all the same isn't it? I'd be asking around for a good local machine shop and call it a day. Send the extra cash to The MAYFAIR Fund - Philadelphia PA

Can't U add a Snow system where U can inject water methane.
I thought that helps lower cylinder temps and adds horsepower .

mopar98 - you really have to be careful running meth. Water only is what I've seen to be the trick. If your motor is really built then yes, meth may work for you. Someone coorect me if I'm off here but, meth will increase pressure and if you're already running a pressure box, you're asking for trouble.

Mayfair - I live in a 4 stop light town. McDonalds is a 30 minute drive down the mountain so, it's a good suggestion but, there's literally nothing for 2 hrs in any direction around here. It's kinda a Vail CO. type area where all the rich Atlantans build their second homes.

Well I'm getting some where with the truck. The head is going out tomorrow. It's going to be ported/polished, new permanent valve seats install along with larger SS valves, machined for fire rings, new heavy duty springs to accommodate the new cam shaft.

The block will be going out in a week to be bored for some new Arias pistons & rods. I sent out my injectors today to be honed for 125hp and my rail also went out today to get the " wild bore " !!

Obviously it going to take long than I had hoped to get back together but, once it is... vvvrrrrroooommm !

The head is 2K. The pistons and rods wheewww ! those will be about $500 per. The head will be able to withstand 85psi of boost, not that I'll be running that but, it's nice to know I'll be well in the safe zone at anything under that. I'd say I'm gonna be around the 15K mark when all is said and done. If I can work it in, dual CP3's will also be installed. Likely though that will be later down the road.

is that $500 per cylinder or each piston & each rod? how did this compare to stock parts? did you get a quote on those?
