I think I filled up with low sulfur diesel
My 2007 Ram 2500 with the 6.7L has been running well. Until yesterday I had bought all my fuel from a BP station near me, and I have about 1400 miles on the clock. Yesterday morning I pulled into a BP station close to where I work. After seeing the "ULSD" decal on the pump, I topped off my tank with about 18 gallons. I didn't notice anything until this morning, but now my exhaust has sooty smoke coming out when I accelerate. You guys with the 5.9 wouldn't thinkthe smokewas unusual, but until now the exhaust on my new truck looked likecleanair coming out. I think this BP fuel pump was mislabeled, and I actually filled up with LSD! I put about 150 miles on today, and I filled up on my way home at my usual station in the hopes of diluting the bad fuel.
For you diesel mechanics out there, does it sound like I filled up with LSD? If so, will it totally screw up my DPF and other emissions stuff? I am going to file a complaint with the Maryland Comptroller tomorrow. His office is responsible for enforcing stuff like fuel quantity. Fortunately I have kept all my fuel receipts since I bought this truck, so I can prove where I bought my fuel. What do you guys think?

you'll be fine. . . .no harm done. now if youve run about 70 gallons through then you might have a problem, but with just 18 the DPF will go through regen more often untill you get it all out.
I had the dpf reprogrammed in mine because it wasn't regenerating the reason I mention this is because when my catalyst was full my truck was smoking bad.
Burn that fuel out completely and then fill with know good fuel, then take it in and ask them if it is normal. There is a new flash out like BKS mentioned for the DPF and related emmisions issues. They'll probably flash you and send you on your way.
You have to run about 3 tanks full to screw up the emissions stuff. One tank of lsd equals about 33 tanks of ulsd. Diluting it might be a good idea that way it doesn't throw the whole tank at the dpf at once.
according to the ownersbook for my truck it says it is ok to run the lsd but not recommended it says it will have a Little more carbon build up but it will not hurt the truck
