I made that comment, but I wasn't thinking about the mom/dad thing, although that puts a burr in my saddle too. I was thinking more along the lines of when I was 21 my great new vehicle was $15K not $50K, and I don't believe average salaries have gone up quite as fast. Hell I am happy young people are doing well and earning themselves a good living. Maybe just a little jealous too.
BTW, that stamina thing...... A wise older guy once told me when I was 18. "What I used to do all night long, now takes me all night to do". But hey that was before viagra.

I think the other thing that has changed is that people can finance just about anything using a million different financing plans. Aren't there 10 year car loans nowadays? The housing market is a big example of this. Several people I know make quite a bit less than me, yet have a bigger house because they are doing the interest only loans. A close relative of mine couldn't qualify for his $10k motorcycle purchase, so he put $5k of it on a credit card, which in turn, qualified him for a $5k bank loan. Problem solved.
It reminds me of a commercial I saw where the guy says, "I can afford all of this because I'm in debt up to my ears."
What gets me even more though is how all the car dealers now just ask you what kind of payment you want. It makes me just want to strangle them when I hear that (we are looking at a new car for the wife, so it is fresh in my mind right now). They don't even want to tell you how much you would be financing[sm=bomb.gif]

I cannot stress the blank check auto loans enough!! When I went to the dealership and let him ramble for a bit and then told him that I didnt need to tell him what I wanted my monthly payment to be because I had a blank check loan and would not needfinancing from him it looked like someone squeezed one of his ********* in a bench vise. This allows you to focus more on whats important than haggling with them over a damn monthly payment. I used capital one, called on a sat. at around 12pm and put in the app, got a call back about 20 minutes later to ask me some "security questions" and that was it, I was approved. I requested overnight delivery of my blank check ($15 fee) and it was there monday morning.
