I grew up in a pretty ritz area. I always bought my own vehicles (with the exception of half of the first one that my dad helped me buy for graduation) but all in all it was up to me. I didn't have a "job" until I was 17 but have been raising 4-H animals since I was 9. That taught me a lot about finances and money management with an end product always in sight. But growing up was hard with all the kids who would drive there brand new cars to school on their 16th birthday and go out that weekend and total it and bring a new one back on Monday. RIDICULOUS. I wish kids that I grew up with new a little something about money but they don't. Oh well. I may still live at home but that doesn't mean that I have a free ride. I still pay my share around the house and ALL my bills associated with me. And as soon as I find a place to go, I'm gone. Women don't really want to come back to the parents house you know.

I was very lucky, my parents moved out of our house and left me to take over the bills. Even though I had some troubles early on they just let me pay a bit less those months and still split the profit of the house when sold a few years later. My parents were and are very good to me and have taught me how to be a good father to my kids. I didn thave to jump into a house they let me ease into it, while it is tough at first it is the greatest thing to hav eyour own space. On top of all else, yea, girls dont want to come home toyour parents house!

Tell me about it!I am out of high school, but there is a kid now that goes to my old school that has to decide every morning whether to drive "his" ford gt40 or his suzuki gsxr1000. Thats right, he drives a crotch rocket to school every other day.

In MN, at 15 you go through a driver's training class and when you pass that, you get your learners permit. You can drive with someone over 18 in the car. Not sure about restrictions, if any. After you pass your test, you have to have 6 hours of behind the wheel training and have your permit for at least 6 months before you can take your drivers test (you also have to be 16 before taking the drivers test) and if you pass, you are free to roam about the roads.
Not quite, I had my permit for 2 days before I started behind the wheel and I had my farmer's license shortly after that at the age of 15. It was pretty funny, the behind the wheel car was the first automatic I had ever driven, so I reached for the clutch when he said alright, lets go. My first lesson was in 4 inches of fresh snow. The guy was not happy that I had only had my permit 2 days and not driven since I got it, but said since we were both there we would do this lesson and then wait to schedule the next one. He had me driving around in a parking lot, so when he told me to take a left after a pole at about 15 I was kind of suspicious, so when he pulled the e-brake on me I didn't miss a beat, even finished answering his question. After that he just looked at me, asked me if I was a farm kid, and then told me I could schedule my next lesson whenever I wanted. Gotta love growing up in the country and driving since you were 10.

whether your a mechanic, air force pilot, army grunt, nurse, business owner, or any of the many other possible occupational members of our AMERICAN work force, light from above shines on you with every accomplishment!!
One more year...

And yea I here you about rich kids that have no idea of the value of work. The high school I went to had some native americans that get a ton of money from the casino they have on the reservation. They would show up to school in their brand new hummers one day and something else the next day.
