Default 5th Wheel Size

What is the largest 5th wheel, weight wise, that my truck can comfortably pull? I am looking into a 35' but was just making sure the truck can handle it. I know the engine can, but wondering about the suspension, drive train, ect. If needed I can get air bags I know, but still want yalls opinions.

I'm not sure about the Mega Cab, but my truck is listed at 12750 lbs according to the Dodge web site. I suggest you go to the Dodge site and look up your truck. You will here a lot of different opinions here. My opinion is NEVER exceed the recommended max trailer weights that are published for your truck. I also use the trailers max gross weight when making my choices. Many camper people will try to talk you into going with the empty weight, or tell you "you could never reach the max gross". Be ware of those type salesmen. Happy Shopping.

Your truck will pull that trailer easy. but if you were going to pull it across the country I would get a smaller one If you are just pulling on short trips I would say buy it. What kind of trailer is it I might can get you a good deal at a dealershipin Oklahoma.

Which weight are you referring to on the 5er your looking at? Usually on the outside left front corner of a camper there is a sticker with the max gross weight of the trailer on it. This includes packed and fluids and propane and such. Then if you go inside usually over the sink inside a cabinet there is another sticker that breaks down that max into: trailer dry weight, propane capacity, water capacity, then left over amount you can load in "gear". Like I said above if the max gross weight of the trailer is within your trucks capacity you are good to go.I hope this helps clarify.

My $0.02 worth... add fully loaded trailer hitch weight... plus any cargo in truck box (ie. tool box) ... plus weight of full tank of diesel... plus combined weight of passangers = total gross combined weight.
Soif one is at maximum weight question is... Can you stop it in an emergency? Some areas in Canada the dept of transportation can and have actually madesome remove excess weight or unhitch the trailer, if they deem your tow vehicle is not worthy to pull the unit. Non-compliance factors are size of tow vehicle, trailer hitch weight (inadequate class of hitch) Braking system (even size of tow vehicles brakes)
Biggest problem is RV sale people telling their customers " hell ya yer 1/2 ton can haul that 6000lb trailer no problem"... but forget to mention that ya gotta add up passengers, fuel, cargo ect... which usually exceeds capcity of the tow vehicle.

Check with DC on capcities and remember to add the cargo to that total. I'd rather tow something under weight and be safe... and not be like that jackass in the cheby dura crap haulin the U-haul truck... wondering why hes over heating! [:@]

your truck can pull anything. . .but the problem is stopping it. if you were to get into an accident and it was found that you were over loaded. . .well. . .that wont be pretty.
