Lost a family member today.
Well today has been somewhat rough. One of our cats was diagnosed with SIV which is like HIV in humans. He (Blizzard) had not been acting right the past few days. We took him to the vet and they suggested we put him to sleep. I know it was the right thing to do but it is just so hard to make that decision. I know he was "just a cat" but he was special to me; he was part of my family. I'm gonna miss ya buddy.

I know what you mean my dear - - my hubby absolutly REFUSED to have a cat in the house when we first got married. So I snuck one into the house while he was out of town for two weeks. Now he is the one who spoils them rotten and loves them to all heck.
SIV is no joke in cats - - the worst part is the pain they are in. You made the right choice.
Just take the time to love everyone in the family a bit more. It will get better.

Sorry to hear that. I know for people that don't have pets, it sometimes hard to understand how it could effect you so much, but I know if I had to do that to our dog, I would have a tough a$$ time making that decision. They do become one of the family.....
I've been there as well. I had to put my cat down not a week after I buried my father, about 6 years ago. Then my dog about 4 years ago. Sorry to hear about your loss.
I feel your pain, I once had a hamster named Dizzy. he ran in circled consistntly. one day he was convulsing. next day still convulsing, third day. he had to go. I miss his squeaky little wheel, everytime I go to the pet store, I get a little teary eyed. RIP Dizzy
