I changed mine at 105k. Old ones did not show any signs of leakage and were still firm when pushed in by hand. I went with Pro-Comps.

After 35000 on mine I went to Bilsteins all the way around.
It did firm up the ride a little but thats what I wanted.
You put new shocks on and they made the truck ride STIFFER??
It's the way they are valved. Like your higher end performance shocks (Fox, Kings, SAW). You can valve them for your driving needs. Bilstiens can be valved so much. They are adjusted for Rams' suspension or a performance system (KORE,Carli,Lorenz).

My truck had 54K on it when I got it. When I first looked at it,I notice some cupping on the front tires. I thought it needed an alignment, so I took it in. The tech said that the alignment was really close, but the shocks were worn out and were what was causing the unusual tire wear.
I went to bilsteins all around and replaced the tires. It handles way better now.
