RE: Shock Life?
Well, I probably won't help since I got rid of mine @ 25,000 miles for my suspension system. I can't imagine the shocks lasting 100,000 miles in the front end w/ all that weight w/ the CTD. Especially if your normal driving is on crappy roads or offroad and if you tow heavy alot the rear springs and shocks will take a beaten.

35~45k and they are toast... mine were. I went with the edelbrocks and really liked them, they are awesome on washboarddirt roads and light off roading. Ithen swapped out my 2" spacers for 2.5~3.0" springs to get rid of some tire rub and couldnt use the eddy's anymore so I went with the bilsteins... I like them alot too, however 1 shines where the other doesnt & vice versa...

If you want road feel, with a smoother ride over the rough roads, edelbrocks. they self adjust. the bilsteins well control sway more. for me to recommend one or the other is tough since I take mine off road and they both work well on & off road... If you decide edelbrocks... I have a new set in the garage I cant use because of my lift...

The rule of thumb used to be at around 40-50000 is when shocvks used to need replacing.
After 35000 on mine I went to Bilsteins all the way around.
It did firm up the ride a little but thats what I wanted.

170k on my originals. Maybe it's time to replace them? My wife complains about how rough it rides, but I think she is crazy. It rides good to me. But maybe I'm like Mayfair and think that the truck is supposed to ride like that. It is definately smoother than my buddies brand new Ford 450!
