Default trailer brake hook up

hello, new here
i have 06 2500ctd/ auto...i bought electric brake, wired factory harness that was under back seat, plugged it in...door closed(not ajar). attempted to back up to trailer to check brakes, horn went to beeping...as long as i was in reverse.
i thought the electric brake was defective, returned it & rewired agin with same results...disgusted...returned electric brake...
that was back in august, now i have 26000 miles on the clock, i want to have this hooked back up and work my trailer brakes, before the factory warranty runs out...
had the engine light come on, with code po191, they reflashed pcm, light out...i mentioned the electric brake question, was dismissed as safety issue that cannot be changed, programmed in computer...any one have the same issues?..help

thanks
raf

Welcome to the forum. The harness is under the back seat? Is it not by the parking brake with a blue plug?

dodge provides the plug/harness in a bag(under back seat)...you wire it up to your after market electric trailer brake, mount it under the dash, & plug it in the blue mating plug by the e-brake

Mine does the same. Its a flash in the computer b/c some dumbass probably fell out and ran over himself. Its a safety deal so you cant find a dealer to get rid of it. I know it sucks!!

On my 2006 Megacab 2500 the horn would only start beeping when the door was open and I was backing up. The first time it happened it scared the heck out of me. Couldn't figure out what the problem was.

Don't know about my 2007 Megacab because our trailer has been at the dealers getting a new awning installed.

But, I think it's a stupid idea. Probably due to insurance liability......[:@]

It's not your brake box, it is a "feature" from Dodge. Here is a post I did a while back for a $10 fix.

No one has told me that they have tried it. My truck doesn't have that "feature".
