I'm not running those hoses bob, but I too am starting to think that I may have a leak also.

I mentioned after putting in my gauges that my boost only goes to about 20 or so, but it's REAL wiggly after 15 lbs. Drew mentioned that I may have a leaky boot and that that may also contribute to my poor fuel mileage. I never did look at the hoses, but I'm thinking about replacing them as well just incase, although I'd hate to spend 200 smacks and have the same problem. [:@]

wel guys, i work at the mack trucks dealership and we have tester for it, i would remove your cooler and make something to cap off the end (use your cooler hose to clamp something tight enough to seal it, with the already used hokse clamps...and do the same thing with the other side except u need to put an air chuck in it, so you can supply pressurized air to it with a compressor, i would only put about 26psi in it...then look for leaks, you can spray the cooler with water and it will show u where you are leaking, if you guys are having any power loss problems, thats probly why, either a hose or cooler is leaking, that cooler is what stores pressurized air to cool it just like the intake manifold stores air, they are both pretty much the same thing. and plus doing this u can clean the **** out of your radiator and condenser and all of that a hell of a lot easier.

bob. . .I believe the 01's were wastegated to 26PSI. . .my 04 is, but I can tap 35 easy. just as jake said. . .you may have a leak in one of your boost that is just enough to keep things from working properly.

also, dodge radiators have been know to clog up internaly in the past.

I'm not quite sure I follow you. therefore I wouldn't feel comfortable trying it. Perhaps you should do a DIY write up on it !!

donnie. . .it's basicaly pulling the intercooler out, capping one end with a pressure gage, then on the other end capping it off with an air pressure source and seeing if any air leaks out. . .which there shouldnt be a leak.

Gotcha .... now that makes sense.

Is there any fluid in an inercooler, or is it just finned? I've never worked on one before.

the intercooler is what is called an air to air heat exchanger. it works just like the radiator except there is pressurized air from the turbo instead of water. there is nothing inside except air.

you can lay it on its front and fill it with water and see where water leaks out too.

02cummins, Do the macks get a lot of CAC problems? I've never had a problem with them unless the turbo lets loose or road debris (usually the condenser takes the blow).
