Apologies for threading yet another exhaust question but I have not been able to find specifics for my ride.

2007 Dodge Ram MEGACAB 5.9l CD......I was a Magnaflow guy while on gas and would like to stay Magnaflow on diesel. I do not plan on doing anything other than exhaust and air filter to my truck so I should stick with a straight thru correct? Thoughts on what you guys would throw on there exhaust wise in my situation would be greatly appreciated as I do not want to screw my ride up.

Umm... if you want magnaflow, go ahead and get a magnaflow exhaust for your truck, won't be as aggressive sounding as a straight pipe. If you straight pipe it, it won't screw it up but you'll likely put a lil more wear and tear on it due to the fact that it'll sound really mean. some little sports car will come up and want to race. You'll just race and race and race because you love the power and it sounds really mean! Oh yeah. If you do have it straight piped don't get up on the throttle by police. Hole noise ordinance thing! Plus in some cases might get in trouble due to the fact of pollutants. I JUST CAN'T WAIT TO STRAIGHT PIPE MINE!

 

CAN you straight pipe an 07 with a 5.9 ??

CAN you eliminate the particulate filter, or is it not on the 5.9's?

 

I am almost 100% positive only the 6.7's have the particulate filter. I hope so at least. I can roll some decent smoke being being a stock 2007 5.9....

 

What is the particulate filter? I'm sure if someone would put enough thought into it you could bypass it some how or another.

 

thats funny but thats how it starts out...i was planning on keepin my truck stock minus an air filter and tonneau

 

5.9's do not have the particulate filter. they only have cats. . .now the 6.7's have cats and the particulate filter. only thing you can do is change the exhaust after the DPF.

and you cannot bypass it. . .

 

Basically saying it'll blow up if you straight pipe it?
