Default Change your air filter!!!

My dirty air filteris going tocost me $10-12K. The lack of air appearantly blew out all the internal seals, causing the oil to be burned off and destorying everything. This is under "poor maintenance" and isn't covered.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you have to be kidding me. . .a clogged air filter doesnt stand a chance for the way these engines pull in air. I have actualy seen some "explode" filters due to restriction. the dealership is just finding an excuse to not flip the bill[:@]

You know what, Drew is right

Before you do ANYTHING else start RIGHT NOW doccumenting EVERYTHING thatHAS happened and IS happening RIGHT NOW while it's still fresh in your head. Doccument names, conversations, dates, times, EVERYTHING !! The dealer is trying to screw you and unless you have some doccumentation to back yourself up your gonna get screwed HARD !! You want ALL parts returned to you IMMEDIATELY so that you can send it out to your OWN independent lab to see what the results of their findings are.

Fight the good fight brotha .. Good Luck !

Man I am sorry to hear that bro, I think Mayfair and Drew are right on the money. I think maybe that once they hear "independant lab" they may just reconsider. I love my Dodge and am really lucky to have a great dealership that will do anything to keep their customers happy.

Good luck DR I hope it all works out for you, Maybe you should give my dealership a call, tell them your story and see what they have to say about it. Tell them one of their customers that is on their 5th Truck from them told you to call hehe.

Maybe it would be a good idea to call cummins directly and question them.

Yo Diesel ram, Call 3 different diesel mechanics. Have their opinion on what happened to the truck. Then if neccessary have them look at the engine. Then call an autorney. Take it to court because that is bull ****. Dude. Dealers lie. They get yelled at sometimes if they do take on something or if a bluff gets called. Get different opinions from someone other than a dodge mechanic. They wanted to charge me 60 dollars to have a seal put in. I did it my self took 5 minutes and it was all good! I'm for second third and fourth opinions from different parties. Especially from expierenced mechanic shops.

How you are even able to speak about this without breaking your keyboard is amazing. I am with kg, get another opinion first from your dealer in your hometown and then if that doesnt go well then bring it elsewhere, call an attorney now though.

If there is no oil in the intake after the turbo, then BS on the dealer. A plugged filter could cause the turbo seal on the compressor side to leak, seen it before (not on a cummins though) but it is possible.
