does anyone know where i can tap into the courtsey light circuit....the circuit that has power when you use the key FOB to unlock the doors (turning on the courtesy light and cargo lights)? i'm trying to throw a relay in the loop so i can power some extra courtesy lights for my step bars.

maybe the door ajar circuit would work? but where should i tap it?

any help is appreciated

 

The guy that did my running boards tapped in to the wiring harness under the truck along the frame rail. I don't know off hand the wire color, but if no one else can tell you I will look tomorrow in the light and let you know.

do yours only light up with the courtesy lights or do they light up with the running lights as well?

im just looking for the temporary courtesy light action.

 

I actually have both on my running boards. Step lights that workwith the interior lights and some clearance lights that light up with the running lights.

there is a wiring diagram link up in the diy. Its the last link drew posted. It'll give you a wiring diagram for the courtesy lights.

 

Sorry dude, I looked under the truck and they tapped into the lights soemwhere in the cab under the finish stuff. Idon't want to tear out my interior to find it. Check out Jake's link for a schematic, and I would also look for a place that sells running boards on line and see if you can download instructions. Good luck.

 

I remember when I put in my remote starter that somewhere it said not to hook into the courtesy lights, dont remember why just dont do it.
