Default Chrysler's life time powertrain warranty

Anybody seen this? Just heard it on CNN news. Went to a local dealership's (timberline dodge) website to read about it. But of course, were (diesel owners) are excluded.

Its understandable why were excluded. Dodge does not make our motor.

Yea... the lifetime powertrain warranty will be a strong selling point. However, I know they'll be financially forced to with-draw it at some point (well, maybe not, because it is only applicable to 1st owners). because no-one makes perfect powertrains. They'd of went broke if they did this on their early 4-speed automatics.
Of course, they could always "dig" to find reasons to not honor the warranty. "Well, you went 33,000 miles on your transmission service, which is due at 30,000 miles."

I read the article on another site and I have to say, it sounds pretty legit. You only have to take it in every 5 years for a free inspection and you have a 60 day grace period at that time. I am sure even aftermarket exhaust and intake and your screwed though.

I tried to grab a copy of the explination while we were at the dealership yesterday - - they laughed at me for some reason. I don't know why they wouldn't want it out in the open ok so it hadn't really started yet but still.

The diesels are excluded and there were a few other things that were excluded also.

But for a momma's car it would be a cool thing - - but then again there is that 'first time buyer' thing - - that is a title I lost a loooong time ago.
