yea. . .it's not that hard to do. . .and I agree, however for the price you pay for changing the oil every 5000 with a slightly less expensive oil, as opposed to going 2-3x as long on something that is maybe $20 more has win all over it.

Do you really think there's THAT big of a difference price wise?

Rotella T is about 8.88 a gallon ( round it off to 9.00 ) X 3 = 27 + 15 for an oil filter = 42 bucks

That Amsoil stuff is about8 bucks a QUART isn't it?

8 X 12 = 96 + 15 for filter = 111.00

Even if I did the Amsoil stuff every 10K and continued to do the regular old stuff every 5K I'm STILL ahead 27 bucks

I may be WAAAAY off with the price of the Amsoil oil, but for some reason I thought that's what it was going for. Either way, I feel a little more comfortable changing my oil more often, regardless of what I'm useing.

You have also just produced twice as much waste oil. [&:]

I'm not a tree hugger, but if all motorists followed the manufacturer's oil change intervals instead of Jiffy Lube's marketing, imagine how much less oil we could use. [sm=americanasmiley.gif]

I agree with somewhat frequent oil changes. I also agree with synthetic oil. I think that the properties are better for lubrication.

Wow mayfair, I didnt know you were that smart... Lol im j/k, but seriously, I always use just a conventional oil, I too think that a synthetic has good properties for lubrication, but people have been using conventional oil since cars were invented[&:] It did them good, thats what I think when I see that new castrol commercial with the two chargers. I think that is one of the dumbest commercials ever.

I take my used oil to afriends shopwherehe uses it as heating oil. I don't see it as a waste at all. If anything, it's being used 100%.

the amsoil site does list the 1 gallon jugs as being $25.70, however with the prefered customer program you can get that same gallon for $21. so while that is $63 for oil and another $15 for the filter soI'mlooking at $78.

I was also thinking about the disposal as well. . .but since your buddy uses it at heating oil. . .he should kick you back a few bucks
