I'm switching to ams oil next paycheck, you can run a bypass oil filter system. And just change out oil filters and do oil analysis. I talked to an ams oil dealer running the bypass system his oil had 80 k on it and lasted just fine in his ctd. But this many miles is only suggested with bypass oil system and oil analysis.

I just started running Amsoil and like it a lot. My truck has been running a lot quieter (motor noise) and it seems to warm up easier when first started. I'd definitely recommend it.

I am using Amsoil DEO 5W-40 in mine. I intend to change mine as recommended in the manual (7,500 miles unless the overhead computertells me earlier). Once the warranty runs out I plan to extend the interval, monitoring the oil quality by mailing in an occasional sample for analysis.

I ran my last 12 quarts of amsoil just a hair over 10,000 without a bypass. . . the oil held up very well. now that I have a bypass in who knows how long it'll go

How long can you go between oil changes with Amsoil? What is the recommended oil change intervals with the dealer oil?
Thanks for the info

Thanks for all the help and advice. I am new to this forum and it really seems like a neat way to stay up on CTD info.

I am running amsoil 15w-40 heavy duty and change it out every 15,000 miles. I change the filter every 7,500 miles.

The amsoil dealer I was buying from talked me into it and I ran it as long as 30k once with sampling and changing the filter every 7,500 but that was just pushing it too far for me. Maybe with a bypass I'd go longer drail intervals.

I honestly don't see the attraction to these LOOOONG oil change intervals.

I'd rather change my oil every 5000 miles with regular ole oil than try and push it with synth. I just don't get it ... changing oil isn't THAT hard to do.
