Exhaust Questions, please HELP!!
I have a 2003 cummins quad cab 4X4, and i really want to "beef up" the sound... I have thought about just putting a straight pipe on it,but I've heard from several people that it won't pass inspection without a muffler. Then others have told me that's just a bunch of b.s. and a straight pipe would be the way to go.... I looked at some cat back systems, but they seem like a lot more than I'm wanting to spend... Any suggestions on getting a better sound, without spending $400?

2003 doesn't have a cat (at least mine doesn't), and where are you at that you have inspections? What kind of inspections (saftey, sound, or emissions)? Ask the people that are going to do the inspection if there is an issue with anything you are planning on doing, that is the best way to find out what you can do or not do.

RE: Exhaust Questions, please HELP!!
Well, I'd straight pipe it first to see if you can handle the sound. If you like it, your cool, if not, I'd add an Aero to the mix.
Since you'll need to add a stright pipe if you're going to go with an Aero ( because it's smaller than your stock muffler ), you might as well get one long enough to straight pipe it. If your not happy, cut out a section long enough to add the Aero and your GOLD !!
