Default CONSUMER WARNING NEVER BUY FROM ITUNES

Ok guys I have been using Itunes to download music onto my computer for at least two years now. I have over 200 dollars worth of songs I have downloaded from them. I have accoutn set up and they keep track of all my purchases in my account. Well guess what. my profile on my computer crashed and is no longer there. with it went my two hundred dollars worth of music. I have about 150 of it on Cd's in my car so they arn't lost. but the other 50 and then some are lost for good. i figured hey Itunes keeps records they will let me download it again since they can tell if it is on the computer. I know they can tell because if for example you're downlaoding a song and your computer shuts off or internet cuts out. they allow you to do a "check for purchases" which then scans you're computer for the song and if it isn't present then it is downloaded then. well they don't. they only let you downlaod it once so if you're comp crashes you're up **** creek. also i'd think they'd have a better way to get you're inventory of songs to a new computer. instead of having to burn tons of CD's to get it all over. well I guess that's what they think is more conveniant. I dunno guess i'm just ticked that i'm out 50 or more bux because my compter that is being replaced as we speak is a piece of junk and crashed my profile on it. O well guess i'll have to buy it all again.

Actually itunes is a music 'rental' site.. you have no rights to ownership at all

Actually, I think they will let you redownload everything again in case of a complete loss. But, they will only let you do it ONCE. After this, you are truly hosed.

Explain this to me fuller half dozen because i'm extremely interested in that. I guess it makes sense. they only let you put it on so many computers but they do let you burn them as many times as you want.

If you take your comp to circuit city or something they can pull the stuff off your harddrive without your profile being there. My comp did that and I had a lot of important info on it. They can pull everything off your harddrive and put it on DVD's.

P.S. Get a iPod. You can use copypod and pull all your music off of it.

I use Alltunes.com (formerly Allofmp3.com), where you can get a real MP3(at 320 Kbps) with no digital rights crap for about 20 cents. The music artists hate it because they don't get any royalties from it. The servers are located in Russia, and the service claims they are protected by an old legal agreement that allows Russian businesses to distribute music from all artists and labels. I would never spend $.99 for a song with all that digital rights crap on it that doesn't allow me to use it the way I want.

Yeah I've got an iTunes copy program if need be.

I'm up to about 110gb of music so if there is anything you are interested in shoot me an email.
