OK, according to the 'service manual' I have, it says the sensor is located on the underside of hood by the hood latch striker. Guess I'll try again tomorrow, but I'm thinking mine is gone. Some things about a used vehicle really annoy me.

 

Well I finally got it figured out. There is no sensor! I found 2 plugs that go under the hood. One for the hood lamp the other for the sensor. Not time to find a junk yard that has one of them that hasn't been in a wreck and gotten all crushed.
