the only other reason I can say stick with the 5.9 aside from the fact the 6.7l is in its infancy is all the emissions crap that is on that engine. I know EGR's and DPF's work very well with OTR trucks for the most part, however, we dont run our trucks like that. clogging will happen.
engine mods for the 6.7l are on the way. I'm pretty sure beta testing is going on right now for quadzilla, bullydog, banks[:'(], van aakien, TST, smarty, and edge. by the end of the year there should be some definate word on when chips and downloaders will be avilable for the 6.7's on the retail market.
overall I would say get a 5.9 since the 6.7l's are still having the (very few) bugs worked out.
hey, atleast it isnt the 6.4's of ford that were blowing fire out the tail pipe, having injectors stick open and nuke an engine, or having a turbo bearing go out and nuke the engine.

I had the choice between a 2007 5.9 and a 2007 6.7. The reason I didn't want the 6.7 was because
1) Though I'm sure i ts a great engine, I didn't want to buy the first iteration of it.
2) It requires ULSD (though its becoming more and more common now)
3) I didn't want all of that emission stuff
4) There appeared to be more mods available for the 5.9.

Why would you say the 5.9? any specific reasons?

Isn't the 5.7 the Hemi and the 5.9 the Cummins?

I may be wrong but when he refers to the 5.9, I believe he means the gasser not the diesel.

I traded my hemi a month ago for the 6.7 3500 6 spd auto. drove the 5.9 then the 6,7 and as you can see the choice was the 6.7. I have 4500 miles on it and love the truck. As for upgrades to the motor they are already avalible. I have the edge with attitude and an airaid cold air intake. As for exhuast the muffler comes right off no cuting and the straight pipe fit in perfic. The trans is awsome it isnt shifting constantly and handles the edge at extreem with no slipping. The exhuast brake and tow haul are a great combination also. just my .02

I would get the 07 5.9L... it is proven tough.
I would not wait any longer, since they are getting harder and harder to find every day.
I would get the long box if you think you are gonna use it, specially if this is the last truck your gonna buy.
As far as 2500 or 3500 goes... the only reason I would suggest 3500 is if you went to a dually for the 5th wheel you are considering down the road, but since you allready said you don't want the dually then it is settled. You will be some what limited in your 5th wheel choice though.
lata dude, welcome to DF

If you plan on a fiver, then go with the 3500. The 2500 will pull it fine, but for insurance purposes. It would be best ifyou just went with the 3500.

Ditto on the 5.9 over the 6.7. I'm glad i got mine. The dealership where i got it had 15 07-5.9's on the lot back in june, now has only 1 5.9 and 12 6.7's. I've got about 3k miles on it now and it's been completely trouble free so far. Absolutely love the truck. have used both ulsd and lsd in it with no problem.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot.... You mentioned dropping 45k on a new truck, that is alot, you should be able to get one the same as mine for about 35k.
