It's going down tonight
Me and a buddy are headed to the track to end 4 months of S$*talking about his ford falcon. I am going to race him stock with my topper on against his 1964 falcon with a built 289. I think he will run out of gearing about the 1/8 mark. Anyhow I was looking for a few pointers on the best way to shut him down. I figured I will have to run in 4x4 to keep tire spin under control, but should I run in tow/haul? How about spool up at the line? Kinda nervous about this one.
I would test the hook up in 2 wheel drive. If it is good then I would keep it in 2 wheel drive. 4 wheel drive will bog you down.
also make sure you sppool the turbo before you launch otherwise he will smoke you off the line.

4wd hi, plant the break pedal to the floor, rev to around 1600rpm and build some boost. once the green light hits you should know what to do. around half track you can switch back to 2wd, by then wheel spin should not be an issue.
theres no real need to do a huge brake stand burn out, butI wouldspin the tires a little to remove any FOD from the rubber.

I would do tow haul simply due to the TC locking earlier and holding the gears a bit longer. however what you can do is make a run both ways if possable, one without tow haul and the other with to see what, if any difference.
Ive shifted into 4wd under full power before
had a ricer I needed to get around and was getting a bit too much wheel spin.

If it is a 289hypo with a 4sp and 4.10 gears your going to have your hands full they were quick.
Ford made a limited number of them for the strip (just enought to be classed as stock)
