A quick question. i'm new to my CTD. When i turn my key to the "on" position (before engaging the starter) a red light comes on in the lower rt of the instrument cluster for about 2 seconds then goes out. Any idea what this is. I thought it might be a lift pump light?? I know it's not the heater light, because I believe I saw that come on before - it's an orange curly thing. Any ideas what this is, I always let it go off before starting. Thanks

 

What year is your truck? If you have a 3rd gen it's the wait to start light, not sure what the wait to start lights look like in other years.I wouldn't worry about it in the summer

 

The red dot in my truck is the factory security system light. The wait to start is an amberpig tail.

 

Sorry sig didn't show up 2007 5.9L. I didn't think it was the wait to start light, because I think I've seen that once and it was orange figure 8 looking thing. Maybe I'm wrong though.

 

Your wait to start lightshould bea pig tail. I have always thought that the little red dot was for the lift pump just like your original guess, but I don't know. I always wait untill it goes out just to be safe though.

 

Thanks, I do always wait for it to go out. I might ask the dealer if they know what it's for.

 

No no no, somebody on here will know what it is. Chances are you will waste a trip, the dealers hardly ever know anything about what they are selling .

 

Based on what your saying here it sounds like the wait to start light, that light is curly. I also have an alarm, but that is just a dot. The security light is red and the pigtail is orange.

Sorry, bad english, I meant to say it's NOT the orange pig tail, its a small red dot. I'll take a pic if i can, i believe its the security light.
