father-in laws 2000 2500- 83,000 km's

As he was passing a car yesterday they heard a pop and the engine lost a lot of power- still runs as normal but when ever he accels or goes up the hill-she smokes bad- no other knocking or noises from the engine. no cel on. pulled the air tube to the turbo- it spins freely and no noise.
