Default 2007 Dodge FASS 150/95-1007

Hi everyone ... I'm new to the forum and have a question. I just ordered a FASS 150/95-1007 for my 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 with the 5.9L Cummins. I have downloaded the installation instructions and reviewed them several times. I'm okay with everything up to routing the fuel line from the FASS to the injection pump. Seems to me they're bypassing the the stock filter unless I've missed something somewhereor there's a different way to connect the FASS other than what the instructions tell you. As well, I may not understand the Cummins fuel delivery system and a connection to the injection pump is the correct routing. I would appreciate feedback to help clear the FOG. Thanks!

the system you ordered comes with filters therefore your stock filter is no longer nessasary if that is the way they tell you to hook it up

I ordered it from US Diesel. I had first ordered a FASS 95/95-1007 and was looking at the 3 micron filters when I noted the 3 micron filter is only made for the 150 and the best you can get for the 95 model is 10 micron. Well that's no better than stock and I called them up to check into sending back the 95 in exchange for the 150 and the way they explained it was the fuel would be filtered to 10 micron before hitting the 7 micron on the engine. That bit of information with the instructions created some confusion.

The instructions for the 150 and the 95 are both the same. The instructions they provide online are for the 150 but apply as well to the 95. Once I have the unit in hand I'm going to call them up and ask specifically how they're connecting the fuel line. If it in fact bypasses the stock filter there is another company that makes a part to replace the stock filter assembly and I may invest in that. I don't believe in having anything that isn't funtional.

The stock filter housing also has a heater element in it. If you are in cooler temps during the winter you might want to ask them about that before you bypass the original filter all together.

Yeah ... I've done some research since my original post. I reviewed the installation instructions for the FASS FPHP and the fuel line from it is routed to the fuel filter inlet. After looking around I've got a couple of options ... one, go to the injection pump but install an inline heater and a filter eliminator (http://www.glacierdieselpower.com/pr...p?pf_id=0306FE). Two, go to the stock filter inlet and change two filters. I've seen inline fuel heaters, I just don't remember where. Thanks to everyone for their input. For those of you considering a FASS system and wanting a higher level of filtration remember the filters for the 150 and the 95 are not interchangable and the filters for the 150 are the only ones that will go down to 3 microns.

The FASS model 150 and 95 both have unidirectional coolant ports for heating, however, that does nothing until the motor has warmed up.
