Default Megacab Advice Please

I have a 2007 1500 Ram and I am looking to trade up to a diesel. (I know I'm stupid for not buying the diesel in the first place). My question is, does anyone have the Megacab and wish they didn't get it, or maybe the reverse where they wish they would have gotten the Megacab instead of a quad cab? I don't want to make anymore purchase mistakes. I live in a rural area, but I do go into the city alot. I don't have to drive the truck into the city most of the time, though either. I pull a 19 foot Airstream and I know I won't even feel it with the Cummins.

Thanks,
Rikki

Love my MC. I would purchase another.

Couple of observations:
- A/C is notoriously slow to cool the bigger cabin. Mine blows cold and did OK this summer, but the airflow is low and it takes a few minutes to get the cabin to cool down. Get a windshield/dash cover to block the sun while parked.
- I have not towed with mine, but since it is a short bed, you may have problems with a gooseneck or fifth wheel trailer (not sure though).
- $4000 cash incentive on mega cabs right now, if you can find the one you want.

I agree with the previous poster that a 5th wheel may be difficult to pull with the shorter bed, however I think this can be resolved with a slider hitch. Other than that minor limitation, I absolutely love my Mega Cab - no regrets! I got the 6.7L because I wanted the 6-speed auto and the factory exhaust brake and I couldn't be happier. The 5.9L has proven itself over the years and may be a better choice if reliability is a concern. But do yourself a favor and test drive the 6.7L. You'll be impressed!

I traded in my '05 Hemi QC for an '06 Cummins MegaCab and I haven't looked back once! I was in a similar situation to yours, once I bought my '05, I immediately regretted not getting the cummins, but I fixed that now.

i tow with mine and have no problems and really like the truck.. but like a previous post above the a/c stinks .. on the road it does well but in stop and go traffic with temps in the 90's and low 100's it cant keep up..i think if there was a way to add supplemental electric fans it would help the condensor in stop and go traffic..

I love my MC. Tons of room for the kids and a DVD player to keep them occupied on long trips. I do have the slider hitch also and have had no problems backing in tight spots with a 36' 5th wheel camper. I will never go back to a ex. cab or quad. Other than the already things posted above is it is hard to park in tight spot and or parking garages due to it is a BIG truck. But over all I luv it..................

Thanks for the replies fellas. Actually, no need for a gooseneck, my Airstream is not a 5th wheel, so the Megacab is not an issue from that standpoint. What I worry about is having more truck than I need in terms of interior space. I don't have kids yet (getting married in a year, though). It would come in handy quite a bit for music gear (I have a custom drum company) and also rock climbing gear. (now I just stick it in the gear in the bed and have to put it in the truck when I go in to a place.) Outside of that, I fear the Mega cab being a pain in other situations. Parking, parking garages, etc. The Ford's quad is bigger than the Dodge, but smaller than the Mega Cab. Kinda the perfect size. But, it's a Ford! What a quandry, huh?

I drove a Mega cab last night. Love the power of the engine and I never really felt much of a differnce in turns, etc with the Maga cab. Actually, the size feels kinda good. Feels like a serious truck and it is. Just don't want to regret the purchase.

Thanks again for all the opinions,

Rikki

When you said your getting married that changed my mind on what I was going to tell you, the CTD will last a long time so get the mega cab so you have room to grow.

I didn't get the mega, no kids and I never get to sit in the back, but then my cousin got the mega cab and the rear doors are 10 inches wider than mine and then plus the extra room behind the seat, so he has all kind of room and big doors to get tools in and out of the back.

A BIG back seat can be a good thing . You can let it down and have a full bed
