RE: fuel/water separator question
When you drain the water out you are in effect draining the fuel filter housing. I let about 10 - 12 ounces out into a clear plastic water bottle. After the drain you can look at the bottle to see if there was any water in there. It will be at the bottom of the bottle. If you find a lot of water then I would drain more out until I got clean fuel only orthe housing was empty. I would also repaet the next day if there was that much water present.

RE: fuel/water separator question
Actually you shouldn't need to drain off more than a few ounces, I usually do 3 or 4 to start. The water should be the first to come out. If you drain a few ounces and its clean you should be good to go. If you see water in what you are catching the fuel in, then you might want to drain a little more. I usually try to buy diesel at a station with a high turn over.

how long do you go between drains? do you wait for the light to come on? or just check periodically?
