To prevent my foot from being damaged when I work on my future CTD 2500 Quad Cab short Box Patriot Blue Ram with lift and chrome everything, I need some advice on Steel Toes/Safety shoes...
Ok, so the truck is my dream and not my reality, this is my reality:
If you have experience and can help me out, either post here or throw it to PM to me.
Thanks.

we wear steel toe shoes at work. i've bought them everywhere from the shoe truck, to the shoe store, to wal-mart. there is a tag on them that says they meet ansi spec xxxxxx. i've never paid much attention to the number, but i'd bet money there is only one ansi standard. (for OSHA). your post didn't mention a MIL spec to meet or worry about. i've paid anywhere from $30-110. most important thing is comfort, and there is absolutely no give in the toe. the most uncomfortable thing in the world is a bad fitting pair of shoes. i have to buy Wide size to get a good fit. Also look for a thick pad in the bottom. you'll likely have to buy it separate. good luck in OCS.
ps.. it is some kind of metal, as it sets off metal detectors in the airport and courthouse.

Converse makes some safetyboots that are REALLY comfy. I know they meet some ANSI spec, but not sure the number off hand, althoughit is probably the same one you reference. TheConverse come in either steel or composite toe. Composite toes are nice because they won't set off any metal detectors. I work in power plants, and it is nice to be able to wear your safety boots through security. Plus I think the composite toes are a little lighter, but it may just be my perception. I know you can get them at Cabbella's online, and probably at a Cabbella's store as well. Good luck.

I wear steel toes every day. I like the Bellvilles myself. They are comfortable and not too heavy -- good work boot. The converse boots are more like high top basketball shoes and some people like that cushy feeling. Most safety toe boots will be steel unless they are an "electrical hazard safety toe" then the cap will most likey be fiberglass. If its just a standard steel toe, they will meet the ansi Z41-1991 standard. All safety toe boots manufactured after 1995 should comply.

Robert,
Just curious, but why are you attending OCS if you are already a 2LT?
