Parts/Service

not to argue about the oil change light.

at a local dodge dealer, i have a an associate that is asst mgr of sevice. been with dodge 20 yrs now. a friend of mine bought a new 07 6.7 cummins at the start of summer. his oil change light came on. took it in, they reset it. they mentioned nothin about it being cyclicable.

then his check engine light came on. they flashed it, came back on the next mornng. they flashed it again. now he has a company document that says he may drive with the engine light on till they can fix the firmware.

hes had the oil changed regularly as prescribed by dodge in the hand book at 7500 or less miles.
no problems except firmware updates that dont work.

I just looked and didn't see any flashes that applied to oil changes or oil change indicator. The trucks computer takes varibles into consideration to determine when the oil needs changing. It looks at how the truck is used. idle time, speeds, stop and go driving. Each truck is going to be different according to how you drive.
Which flash did they say wouldn't work. We do flashes everyday and usuallyhave no trouble at all. See if you can find out and I will check into it.....

2800 miles on mine and have the same issue. I didnt take it in, but called service and they said - "just fiddle with it and try to reset it." I think I'll be taking it to another service department.

Get a quick drain and do it yourself it less than 10 minutes and not make a mess at all.

Another member just got an sample back from the lab and it said he was good to go 1500 more miles and his light was on
fwiw... mine takes 20~30 minutes to drain. using the finger touch valve.

You think it takes THAT long?

I'll admit that it's slower, but mine drains a little quicker than that. 5-10 minutes for me, although I warm the enginge up before changing the oil. Maybe that's why.
