to comply with your factory warranty, you are very, and I mean very, limited with what mods you may do without them noticing enough to Void it.

it may be alot of legwork but is there some air intake mods that i can install that will not ruin the stock box. My thought is that if i have after market air intake and want to take it in for service i can easily install the stock box again. i have no problems with a little work to avoid a void!

dealers cant just void a warranty because of a change... they have to prove the change caused the failure being worked on.

to answer your question... I have AFE stage 2 w/PG7 filter and love it. you should probably read this thread on cleaning of it...

Worth reading:

http://www.dieselpowermag.com/tech/g...ers/index.html

and to become even better informed about how different air filters perform
read what these Duramax owners found out by pooling their money and doing
official tests:

http://home.stny.rr.com/jbplock/ISO5011/SPICER.htm

in a nutshell
non-paper filters clog up faster and don't filter as well

what brought this up? we all know swapping to a CAI will not improve mileage much if at all on our trucks(I think there are a couple of users who reported a gain in mpg but cant remember who & what they used) and wont have a great effect until you open the exhaust. Putting a CAI on a stock truck is the 1st step to increased performance... in order to make more power you need more air, then you need to get it out of the motor with an open exhaust, then more fuel. the more you want out of it, the more you put into it. I read the diesel power mag article and they did all of their testing on a bone stock truck. open up the exhaust and redo the testing and see how each one performs then. Thats how the test should be done.allow the exhaust to flow and you should see the true differences between the setups.
