I am not liking dealers right now
I bought a 01 CTD from a dealer for $4k. Got it cheap because they thought the computer was messed up. Ended up being both fuel pumps, Blah, Blah, Blah. Sometime in the whole process, I was told that the power steering pume needed to be replaced. I told them to do it. When I found the fix for the vacuum pump, I removed the power steering pump and to my surprise, it had not been replaced as I was charged for: $144.00 labor, $465.00 pump, $5.23 fluid, $614.23 total.
Well the guy that did the "work" was deployed and the dealer does not want to entertain the thought that this tech could have billed me for something that was not done. BTW my total bill for all the work done, $5117.41.
Any recomendations? I am trying to get them to replace the pump hoses and the front main seal to complete my oil leak repair, but again, I am not getting anywhere.

best thing to do is take pics and threaten them with a lawsuit. even though it would probably cost more.
anyway, the dealers are going to believe the techs before the customer in this situation.

tell them you will run an add in the local paper sating that they are crooks until they pay.
I had to result to this when the local shop tried to pull this on me. it would cost you maybe 50 bucks for a month. It will cost them much more than that in business.

They want me to take the truck to them so they can pull the pump and check it out. Of course, I cleaned the pump up when I was working on it, but we will see.
Dude, that is whyI hate dealers. They probably knew what was wrong with the truck when they sold it to you.
Are you haveing the truck fixed at the same dealer that you bought the truck at?
If so, I probably wouldn't, get a second opinion besides that of the crooks who sold it to you.
Is this a reputable dodge dealership?

It is a reptuable dealer, they sold me the truck for cheap because it had a lot of problems and then I decided to give them the repair business since I got the truck cheap. Oh and I could not drive it off the lot.
I spoke with the service manager and he has agreed to pull the pump so I can show him how I know it is old, If I am right, he will be kissing my *** for a while, if I am wrong, I offered topay for the labor to have the pump removed.
Since there is nothing wrong with my pump, and there is still a bit of grung build up on it, I think he wil be kissing my butt, and some other professionals agree with me.
The whole problem here is that he does not want to think badly of the tech because he is at war. I do not disagree, but someone made a huge mistake.

Not bustin your chops, but how long ago did you buy the truck? The tech is at war? Something don't sound right....If you prove that the work wasn't done, he betterdo ,more than kissing your butt
i have seen this happen many times.. especially with my company owned truck. many times i have taken in a vehicle for rotates/balances. and oil changes and some larger issues . i know the average time for a rotate and balance.. if they did the oil change and a rotate and balance as well as a alignment check in 20 mins with lots of other stuff in the shop going on i got to wonder what was being skipped. i started marking the insides of tires with chalk and stuff to see if the front to back got changed and most of the time it didnt.i would crawl under the vehicle to check my marking and they usually were the same. i pointed this out they the work didnt get done and huge fuss usually broke out and i said to prove this i showed them my markings. that changed a lot of stuff..when i go to a service center now i pretty much camp out with my vehicle and watch everything that happens..then you get that we cant have anyone in our department due to insurance regulations as they pull up a chain to block the area..now i can usually stay on the other side of the chain to keep a look out.. i have noticed the average time to complete the same tasks take them longer than the use to be 20 mins in/out.
I understand you being mad but you got one helluva a deal on that truck at 4k bux. even if it takes 5k worth of money to get it going ur still way ahead of the game in fair condition ur truck is worth 15k and i'm assuming that it's in good shape body wise and paint so once the engine is up and good it's more like good which is 16.5k so you're still ahead of the game.
