Default Questions about dealerships, please post answers...

Okso if you read my sig, you will see that I work at a dealership. I want to hear your answers to4 questions:

1. What is your biggest gripe about the service department that you visit.
2. Same question about the parts department.
3. What would be something that you would like to see the service department do or offer you to make your visits more frequent or more pleasant.
4. Same question about the parts department.
I am going to attend a service managers meeting to discuss customers concerns and want to have some idea of what can be done to make your visit to the dealer more appealing.....
Thanks in advance for you answers..........

The only problem I've ever had w/ a Dodge dealership for service is that there are not enough Diesel techs.

I'm actually pretty lucky I found a good dealership that has multiple Diesel techs on-site, has a great receptionist who doesn't think she is a service writer, have great 'extra' options. They are always clean, fast, and polite.

I know you wanted complaints -- but I figured I'd give you at least ONE good post

1. What is your biggest gripe about the service department that you visit.
Lack of intelligence in some of the managers/workers there... they don't seem to know wtf is going on, or why I am there (I do all my own work unless warranteed or I don't have the tools, and am unwilling to pay for them)
2. Same question about the parts department.
When a question about application is raised, they can only tell you what is on the screen in front of them. But that takes experience that some people just don't have...
3. What would be something that you would like to see the service department do or offer you to make your visits more frequent or more pleasant.
I don't want my service deparment (nor do most people) to make my visits more frequent . As far as the more pleasant;LISTEN and awknoledge that there are people out there who know just as much about their vehicle as the people there do (sometimes more...)
4. Same question about the parts department.
Um... Prices... that is all I have to say... I only buy something from the parts deparment when I CANNOT find it somewhere else period.

Good luck on the meeting, hope my opinion helps somewhat

I'm with Sereguial. I don't want more frequent trips to the Service Department because it means I have to make arrangements to be away from work. So I guess, I'd like to see the Service Department open longer outside of normal work hours. And longer hours should include actual diagnosis/repair service, not just oil changes.

Every Parts Department I go to seems to have multiple pricing levels. I feel like I have to negotiate the best price for dealer only repair parts and accessories. How about charging everyone the same price. I had my fill of negotiating when I bought the truck!

Good to hear your looking to improve things at work.

1. Lack of knowledgable techs. Or worse, techs that think they know diesels andclearly don't.

2. No complaints about parts. They're pretty straightforward and many times can find a part that no one else can.

3. Drop the attitude that the dealership is the only place to get quality service. And quit giving me a list of everything that's "wrong" with my truck. When I take it in for service I want the service done. I don't want someone tearing into my truck looking for something wrong. Last time I had mine in they decided to "test" my shocks and ended up having the bottom of the rears come out of the top. And yeah, they were brand new.

4. Nothing about parts. Easy people to work with in my experience.

1) I want a service manager/writer who knows the product, listens to what I say, and is not a B/S artist. I want a tech who checks out the problem I've described, and doesn't just say "can't duplicate" . I tok my truck in for a strong hot oil smell, was told I "can't duplicate" the problem, guess his nose needed repairs too! I also complained of a banging noise while driving over a mildly rough road, and was told it was the ball adapter in my class 5 hitch receiver, DUH!
Also there aren't really any diesel techs at the dealership level, you have to find a diesel shop, like a cummins dealer to get quality, knoweligable service.
2) Consistant pricing in the parts dept. why should 1 dealer be one price and a dealer 10 miles away be a different price. And not enough stock on hand, the local dodge dealer told me he would have ot order oil filters for my 5.9 diesel. Again, DUH!

3)I would like to see more diesel techs and service managers who know at least a little about diesel problems. I do not mind paying for quality service, but do not like getting screwed with out getting a kiss! And try to get one who will give a straight answer to weather something is covered under your warranty or not! I realize that warranty doesn't pay as much as customer pay repairs, but if it's warranty, fix it, and charge itthat way !
4) same as # 3
