With the few mods that I have, lately when I'm traveling at about 20 or so mph and hit it, the truck seems to bog down or just kinda rev up until I release the accelerator and try again. Is this the tranny slipping? What can I do to fix this? Thnx

 

if the tranny is slipping you'll see the tach go to 3k or so. it could be that you need the bands adjusted on it. have you had it serviced yet? how many miles on it?

 

Yeah I dont recall it reving up to 3k or so, and yes i just serviced it myself but did not adjust the bands. The truck has 28k on it.

 

Does yours vibrate at highway speeds?

 

Not at all. I may feel a lil something at approx 70mph but not much at all. Below or above that, its smooth sailing, luckily. Just pulls to the right a little, but not a whole lot is going to fix that which such big tires, an alingnment will just fix the toe.

 

put it in 2nd gear and take it for a spin... see if it works ok, then do it again with OD locked out, if it still does it you may need to adjust the band for 2nd gear. you can do it w/o yanking the pan from what I understand, I have a shop do mine so I cant tell you much more than that... did you download the manual and have a look?

I checked the manual and it states the front band can be adjusted w/o removing the pan, but the rear band is inside the pan. Heres what is says.

ADJUSTMENTS
ADJUSTMENT - BANDS
FRONT BAND
The front (kickdown) band adjusting screw (2) is
located on the left side of the transmission case above
the manual valve and throttle valve levers.
1. Raise vehicle.
2. Loosen band adjusting screw locknut. Then back
locknut (1) off 3-5 turns. Be sure adjusting screw
turns freely in case. Apply lubricant to screw
threads if necessary.
3. Tighten band adjusting screw to 8 N·m (72 in. lbs.)
torque with an appropriate Torxâ„¢ socket.
CAUTION: If Adapter C-3705 is needed to reach
the adjusting screw, tighten the screw to only 5
N·m (47-50 in. lbs.) torque.
4. Back off front band adjusting screw 1-3/4 turns, for
diesel vehicles, or 1-1/2 turns, for V-10 vehicles.
5. Hold adjuster screw in position and tighten locknut to 41 N·m (30 ft. lbs.) torque.
6. Lower vehicle.
REAR BAND
The transmission oil pan must be removed for access
to the rear band adjusting screw (1).
1. Raise vehicle.
2. Remove transmission oil pan and drain fluid.
3. Loosen band adjusting screw locknut 5-6 turns. Be
sure adjusting screw turns freely in lever.
4. Tighten adjusting screw to 8 N·m (72 in. lbs.)
torque.
5. Back off adjusting screw 3 turns.
6. Hold adjusting screw in place and tighten locknut to
34 N·m (25 ft. lbs.) torque.
7. Position new gasket on oil pan and install pan on
transmission. Tighten pan bolts to 17 N·m (13 ft.
lbs.) torque.
8. Lower vehicle and refill transmission with MoparT ATF +4, Automatic Transmission fluid.

 

am I reading this right? all but your reverse adjusters are external????

 

It looks that way. I just went under the truck and found the front adjustment screw, pretty easy to access. My only problem is the torque wrench i have only goes as low as 120 in lbs and the adjustment calls for 72 in lbs. Well i adjusted it anyway and i guess ill see what happens. I calling around now to try and find a smaller torque wrench so i can do it right, u think by possibly tightening too much will damage something??
