Default Help!

Ive had my tires balanced twice, and I still get a vibration at 65mph and up. It only vibrates when im accellerating or cruising(under power), but not when coasting(no power). My brother and I have both decided that it may be a transmission problem since it only happens when the engine is under load. Could this be bands out of adjustment? Or is it something more serious? Please help, im about to leave to the dealer (55min away) I can read responses on my cell phone, so any help would be great. I think I may put my stock tires on before dropping it off, just to make sure that its not the tires that are vibrating. Thanks

Check your U joints. If they are going out they tend to vibrate only when under load.

I hung and yanked and jiggled the rear shaft and it barly moves a tiny bit, should it not move at all? I took the front shaft off. It only does it at like 65 and up. the only thing my 01 did to tell me that my u-joints were bad was squeak in reverse, it never vibrated. Could they still be bad?

Wish I could help you more, like in the other post as long as they are balanced well and the alignment is the best its going to get, then it should not be vibrating more than usual. Do you have a dual steering stabalizer?? When I got the truck it didnt have one and just put one on, im sure it helps a lil bit. Besides that, really not sure, thats the pain with these really big tires. Let me know what u find out.

Could still be a ujoint. I had a similar issue, certain speeds a vibration and an odd noise under light braking. I was under the truck a couple times and everything seemed good and tight.... until it finally let loose enough to start getting a clunk on take off... then I was able to move the rear ujoint around to the point I was surprised it didn't fall right out.[:@] Changed the joint and all the problems went away.

Wow, thanks guys. In the 55min drive to the dealer, I decided that it probably wasn't the tranny because the shifts were normal and the vibration stayed constant with the shifts. Me and my other brother agree with you guys that its probably the u-joints. So.... I went to 4 part stores and none had them in stock. The ones that could order them however, said that they were $115!!!!!!! WOW, I used to replace the u-joints on my '01 for @ $20 each. Does anyone know if this $115 is accurate? If so, does anyone know where I can get them for a resonable price? Thanks again guys.

ya, The rear shaft u-joints. The one that connects to the t-case is $20, but they're saying that the one that connects at the axle is $115

I got mine from Napa for a tick under 35. It was a federal mogul 351A, I believe.

Oh, and they did have to order it, but it was in overnight.
