Default NEWB question

hey guys this is my first cold season coming up with my CTD and I have a question about what temp should I plug my truck in?

some have a timer on theirs, get a heavy duty outdoor timer from home depot and set it for 2 hours or so before you expect to leave. I dont need one in CA but I'd expect anything below the 20's~30's you'd need it.

Like Steve said get a timer, I plug mine in when it gets below 30, I have it on a timer for 2 hours before I leave

these engines will start without the block heater to -20F as long as the fuel doesnt gell. . .most plug theirs in around +10-20F for a quicker warmup.

I plug mine in the night before when we get into the 30's ... faster warmup.

I notice under 35 my truck has a very rough start. Plus it takes FOREVER to warm up. So I start plugging in around there - - I don't have a timer yet so I just run out and plug it in right before I go to bed....but man oh man does that show on the power bill. Expecially now that we have two - - I gotta go get a timer in the next few weeks. (had 42 this am on the thermometer)

I plug mine in under 40F on a timer 2 1/2 hrs before I get up

I've never plugged mine in... it's seen temps down into the 20's and ran fine.
