Hard Start
Got in the truck at about 7 this AM to head out to school. It was only about 45 out. Tried to start the truck but it wouldnt crank. So tried it again, took a second, and started! My FASS was only reading about 11 or 12 for a minute and then went right back up to 16 or 17. Any idea what this could be?
any help is great!

I had a BMW many moons ago that would do this from time to time. The cure? tap on the starter a few times with a wooden handle of some type. Also if you hit the starter (with the ignition) a few times fast it will usually engage it.
It could be both. A low or dead battery would not give the FASS thevolts it needs, then whenthe truckfires up and the alternator is turning, it jumps back to wherethe PSIshould be because it has thevolts it needs. Still 11-12 PSI is more than enough to start the truck. My in-tank pump never showed a 2 digit reading the entire time that I used it.

Drew is correct.... NC is a southern boy and "won't crank" means it wouldn't start in the south. We need a DF convention for this so us southerners can communicate better with yankees.

when us boys south of the mason dixon say she wont start it means the engine will turn. . .the starter works. . .she just wont fire up.
now when we say she's dead. . .thats when she wont turn over. I had to deal with that overseas with yanks trying to wrench on equipment. . .just aint gunna happen right
