I have a 2004.5 dodge ram 2500 CTD. Not as much now but i used to get black soot on the back bumper on the Passenger side (exhaust side). A litttle bit on the rear quarter panel bottom also. My truck smokes black a bit when i tromp on it but not as much as before. Why is this? From time to time again it also seems to idle a tad rough but then it seems to go away.

 

my '07 does that.dont know what to do about it. I figured i drive my so hard that there is an over normal amount of sout.

 

I get that same crap with my truck... Mines a Hemi... I just used a terry cloth and Turtle Wax Chrome Polish... looked good as new....

 

ya me to. seems to do it less than b4 though but it still there. it wipes off easy

 

chrome polish and rubbing compound. then put a good coat of wasx on the area and you should be good for a while.

 

It's a diesel, you're gonna get that. Due to where the exhaust exits, it's blowing against the truck. Only way to avoid it is to re-route your exhaust.

As mentioned, any "cleaner" wax will take it off easy enough.

 

When I straight piped mine I had my tip lowered so it would blow more away from the truck. Here before long I'm goin for a turn down tip.

 

I had the same trouble with my 05.
When I did the MBRP install, I also went with a turndown tip and haventthe problem was solved.
