Get an actron scanner, they sell them at advance and autozone, they are the best.

I've got the ScanTool 3130 and am happy with it.....in addition to pulling ODB errors you can also retreive real time data, log info and if you're a real geek download it to your PC

You like it? How much was it?

teva, that think looks kinda cool and all, but I'm no rocket scientist. I like things simple. Like when I was buying a new cell phone. I told the girl I wanted a phone that is as skinny as possible, is easy to use, and has the longest battery life possible, that's IT !! i could care less about a camera, music, texting, so on and so forth. I like things simple.

I have the actron. best one advance sold. Works good for me. Has all the bells and whistles but you don't need to use them to do what you want. Even gives real time info from sensors. Cost about a buck seventy I think.

As you know, I've got a 2nd gen and I can't do that tricky "turn the key 3 times" thing in order to find out what's wrong. Basicaly, my Check Engine light came on last night right after filling up. I'm sure it's nothing, but of course I'd like to know for sure and I'd also like to clear the CEL. Is there any sort of gizmo or contraption available that'll easily take care of that for me, or do I hafta go to the dealer?
I am able to do the ignition key trick with my 1st gen truck. why cant you with yours??

the dealer will have a code reader if need be. ask nicely, they may do it for cheap..

Plug this in to your obd port and let it give you the appropriate reading. It is very user friendly and a 3 year old can use it.

if you get one, I suggest getting one that can feed you the live sensor data... here are the ones i'm looking at.
