Firestone Airbags (attn Tschaefer)
Since we completely FUBAR'd Tschaefers post about towing with a 2500 I'll try to make it up to him. I recently installed a set of Firestone Ride Ride helper airbags on the back of my truck. I had $460 wrapped up in the bags and compressor. I went with the manual system and standard duty compressor to save a little dough.
Installing the gauge, wiring, and switch took about 4-5 hours because me and my buddy had the bright idea of putting them where the ashtray was. Looks nice but turned into a big pain in the ****. It would have only taken about an hour if we would have screwed them to the bottom of the dash like everyone else does.
The bags themself took about 2 hours to install and hook up the airlines. They required no drilling and took the place of the old bump stops. After we got everything hooked up we checked for leaks. Only one fitting by the bags and it was a quick fix. Couple of small leaks behind the gauge that took some creative clamping to fix.
Overall I'm real pleased with them. You'resupposed to run them with 5lbs at all times and you don't notice them. With the fifth wheel on and a bed ful of firewood and junk I only run about 20-25lbs and she's nice and level.
Here's some pics. Sorry I didn't get them before they got all dirty. Should have took as we went and did a DIY.

Thanks Mayfair.
I love them. When you don't need them you can't tell they're there. They don't affect your ride like helpers. When you put a load on just hit the button and you're good to go.

Thanks for posting that B-bars, I've been thinking that they could help me out with my 5'ver also. Your install looks 1st class, well worth the time it took. Good job !

I put a set on my old F250 that I used to haul a camper around. They worked wonders. Not only did they keep the truck from sagging, but they reduced the sway a lot too.
