Default Do I need 5 " exhaust?

This upcoming summer I will be pulling a 30-35 foot travel trailer with my 2004.5 ram 2500 Diesel 4X4 quad cab short box.Its stock now but I want to get a AFE intake proguard 7 and bullydog PMT. I am thinking of deleting my CATALYC CONVERTER . Would this be enough flow with 4 inch exhaust and no cat? I am going with the PMT but plan on not going over stage 2. I mostly want it for its features and extra gauges (Boost PSI, tranny temp, idle up feature, Pyro etc...) Or is there another chip system that will do all that for less? But none the less will 4 inch exhaust do the trick?

I pull this with mine. Just have a muffler delete, cat's still there. I tow with the Edge on level 2. EGT's have never got over 1200. I really like my Edge paid about $750 for it. Cool down timer is my favorite feature.

Whats the torque tube? How do u gut it?

Also is it better to delte just muffler or just cat? Or both? And what is a high egt? 1500 F?

Also I have a remote start that has a timer on it so that when i get out of truck after driving it my doors lock and it runs another 1-2 minutes. is this the same as a cool down timer?

It's thetube from the airbox to the turbo. It comes with some plastic baffles in it to cut down on the whining sound of the turbo. Most think it cuts down on airflow. If you are getting a new intake it will come with a new one and you don't have to worry.

I left the cat because the guy at the muffler shop has the same truck as us and said he cut them both out and hated the sound. He alsosaid the truck had no response from no back pressure. He ended up just putting a 5 inch on.

Most say you dont want to go over 1350 F.

you realy dont need a 5" exaust untill you push over 550-600hp. the 4" flows perfect for our application.

removal of the stock muffler will help the most in reduction of EGT's. sometimes people install a flow through muffler to quiet things down a bit especialy when towing since you may get a rather bad drone.

I removed the CAT but left the stock muffler in place. . .my EGT's went down maybe 50F at the most. one of these days I'm gunna get a flow through muffler and remove the stock muffler. . .granted I like it when I romp on it and all you hear is a 747 taking off, but I'd like to have a little bit more rumble

I have a 4" exhaust, straight through all the way from the turbo to the 5" tip and have no problem with throttle response

Thats a nice setup. Are you using any airbags or timbrens for extra support on your rear leafs?
