I have just replaced my 03 cummins with an new 07 with the 6.7 L cummins which has <1000mls.
When I run the truck for a while and then stop, there is a smell (like burning rubber), which seems to come from the exhaust (particulate filter ?)
Have other 6.7 L owners experienced this, and is it normal for a truck of this mileage.
Incidently anyone know the power and torque figures for this engine ?
Thanks in advance
Mine did that for a bit. Figured it was oils on engine or exhaust parts. I've had many new cars that had a thin light oil on many components. I assume thats to keep them looking new until installed. I not have 2000 miles on it and it stopped smelling.
I didn't notice any odd smell when mine was new. It's probably just the hot DPF or diesel catalyst burning off some oil or something. It should fade when you get a few miles on it.
I noticed the smell as well and came to the conclusion it was all of the sweet stickers they left on the exhaust. If you look around there are probably white stickers iin there. Mine are all black now[sm=icon_rock.gif]
I got the burnt paint smell when mine was new, eventually it went away. The first time I ran the programmer set on Crazy Larry, it smelt the burnt paint again, lol . Ya gotta love it.
