Default exhaust problem lead to new plan...

so when i had my straight exhaust put in it was to loud, i then added an aero xl and then shortly after i added another straight thru muffler which resulted in alot of driveway muffler work meaning i used alot of clamps. well one of them came un-done today while i went over a bump and the exhaust was coming out of the down pipe..... well i cant lie, it sounded SWEET! the other main reason besides sound that made me put all that muffler on is the back pressure... i had to get it back to get my low end speed back but now that i have a little module hooked up it seems fast with open exhaust.

NOW FOR THE PLANS.....

i want to leave my down pipe, put a 2' pipe from the down pipe to my aero xl and then place a turn down tip in place. (all welded this time[8D]) this way the exhaust comes down at the ground right around where the bed starts.. so what i need to know is how to aviod spending the 40-50$ on a nice chrome tip, and where to find something ugly or maybe used because it will all be hidden under the truck. anyone have a turn down layin around[sm=confused06.gif]

Is this a good idea?Dumping your exhaust right at the back of the cab? Is that what I understand?

Yeah, the noise is really cool at first, but after a while it gets to be a bit bothersome. I revived my kitty b/c of the noise. I'm even pondering the faint thought of putting the stock muffler back in place. One of the crazy ideas I've had lately is to delete the cat again and put the aero in it's place and then reinstall the stock muffler. The bad thing is that the work is not free and I don't like playing hit or miss b/c of the time and money it takes to do the stuff. Honestly, if I had it to do all over gain,, I would have left the stock muffler and deleted the cat,,,, then just left it alone.

i think that sometimes too. i put around 700$ into my system and when it was done i stoped to think about it...... i replaced 4" w/ 4"[:@]..... alls i had to do was delelte the cat which i could of done in my drive way, and delete the muffler and add an aero. thats 500$ WASTED! which is why i want to try this new way out and not have it cost me anything because its something i can do myself with all the parts i have now and if i dont like it i can always change it back. i dident like loud before but for some reason i heard a diffrent kind of loud today and i kinda liked it i have it fixed now so its back to the way it was but i am still thinking hard about changing it.

You're still useing the Aero aren't you?

How about Pep Boys for an exhaust elbow? Even a muffler shop can't charge too much fo a hunk of scrap pipe bent into a 90

DOT states that you cant have a leak under or forward of the cab. So yes you can have a turn down and have the exhaust dump under the bed. I see no problem with it as a lot of the medium duty trucks do the same. If you want and ugly turn down tip, just go to a semi truck shop and get one. Heck they might even have one in the scrap metal bin you could use.

Yeah, I wouldn't have it turned under the cab, thats just askin for bad things to happen. I've heard the truck with just the cat removed and the stock muffler inplace, and they sound pretty good. Not loud, just have a good throaty sound,, which is kinda what I'm lookin for. The big rig sound is cool,,, it just gets to be annoying after a while, especially on cold mornigs driving out of the woods like I do everyday.
