Quite a few leads to follow..many thanks folks. Joel...if you are into hunting - then you must read books about Frederick Courtney Selous. An early explorer and hunter. Or find a book called Months of The Sun by Ian Nyschens. Who died recently - he was perhaps the greatest elephant hunter that ever was.

To give you all an idea of how dedicated a Dodge fan I am... think about this.... I can buy a RHD Ford F250 in South Africa - which is the neighbouring country. I can have close access to spares and mechanics. And I can have Right Hand Drive. Instead - I plan to bu my Dodge and have it shipped around the world to New Zealand where it will be RHD converted by the best in the world.. US World Direct - specialist customisers. THEN it will be shipped to Durban South Africa. Here I will have to put it on a truck and have it delivered to the border over 1000 kilometres away. At the border I will pay 100% import duty.

By the time the truck arrives it will have cost close on $150 000.

If that doesn't make me a Dodge man... I don't know what will..

Here the specs I'm still looking for :

5.9 4x4 SHORTBED (long bed means a 40 foot container!!) I need Inferno Red, Silver or last resort white.Prefer Laramie and with all the trimmings..

Default Mechanics?

The beauty of the Cummins motor is that I can work on them here - Cummins are all over the world. I run two Cummins generators here - 2x 200kva. Cummins have place in the city. Many buses and trucks use Cummins motors..

That's dedication alright. Then you gotta worry about gov't thieves who might have an eye for your truck. My local dealer had your'07 inferno red laramie 4x4, sb, 6 speed manual truck up until last month when somebody snatched it up. Laramie 5.9's have been extremely rare forthe lastfew months. To find one now would be incredible stroke ofluck.

So.. I want a Dodge. I want to drive that big beast, Cummins roaring, through my world destroyed. I want to go down in style.
Sounds like your truck is gonna have a hard life once it reaches you.... well at least you picked the right truck to count on, it will come through for you better than any other. How come you don't move away... to a different country. I know it is easier to say than do, but man it sounds like I would have been gone a long time ago.

Hi Savage.Basher

Well, I am asked that question a great deal.. Why don't I leave? It's quite simple really... my family were pioneers in this part of Africa, we arrived in 1892 in covered wagons. I am born and bred here. It's my home.

You don't just leave your home when trouble arrives. I can't imagine any American going quietly in the night in face of tyranny? Imagine a Texan being told his ranch and home is longer his because it onced belonged to an Indian tribe?

It's a difficult question...ownership of land. But I bought my land, after independence..like 80 % of land in this country has changed hands under a black Gov. Independence was in 1980, and the gov required that all land if sold, be first offered to Gov, which has happened for every piece of land sold. The Government for 20 years showed no interest and in fact encouraged whites to be more productive...

Then in 2000, corruption brought the country to it's knees. The black populaton decided to exercise it's democratic muscle and started to vote for a younger, more educated black political party...

Thats when Mugabe decided to blame the problems on whites and started to invade white farms and homes... saying he was redressing colonial imbalances... in fact what he did.. was take from the whites and give to his fellow politicians and army..in return for their votes and loyalty. Whoever controls the army in Africa...controls the country.

Now that there are only 200 farms left in the whole country (from just over 10 000) - there is nothing more to give... except...the cities. He is now making legislation which states that all foreign owned mines, banks, corporates will be taken over by Gov and given to "needy people"...ie meaning his henchmen.

American companies are affected. Coca Cola has said it will move out if he makes this move.. The Heinz Corporation has already abandoned their business here. etc etc.

Mugabe follows the chinese little red book to a letter and plans on turning this place into a sort of North Korea.

On the bright side though...when you have anarchy like this... you take the law into your own hands? Speeding tickets? Drunk driving? Points off your license? These problems don't exist. If i get caught ddoing anything illegal..I simply bribe the police. In fact it's considered rude if you don't! A traffic cop here makes USD$4 a month. So if I get caught going say 120 in a 60 zone. It will cost me 30c in bribe, and my journey is stopped for say 5 minutes.

It's the wild west all over again..

Still haven't found my truck!

One delear says he can help... but as soon as he heard I'm from outside the his county...let alone outside the States...he said it would violate his dealership agreements..

How strange?

I thought the USA was unto capatalism...

I'm not sure I would take the risk with avehicle via Ebay, unless maybe you had an attorney represent you or something. Likely, you would need to have someone properly title, take possession of the vehicle and process and prepare for shipping anyway. An Expeditor maybe?

The ebay comments say that this guy has a buy now price and a phone number. Most people will likely be as skeptical as you to buy a vehicle on Ebay. I suspect that his reserve price will not be met. Why not call or email him.

Are youcurrently in Africa? Here is my little piece of Africa. This came from Rwanda.

Hi Solar warp

I am in africa... and was in Rwanda last year tracking the mountains gorillas. A wonderful thing to do. Although Rwanda is a desperately sad country, with the pain of genocide plain to see on people's faces. They hacked 800 000 people to death in 3 weeks. Lifelong neighbours killed each other because they were different tribes..

The mountain gorillas are incredible. I've lived amongst wildlife my whole life. I have a baby elephant at the moment. But the gorillas surpassed anything I've seen in the wild.
