Dually as DD?

RE: Dually as DD?
The dually is used and pretty discounted. Otherwise, Id be getting into a new 08 2500 single. But I just thought if I could get the dually why not. Our hauler is only about 8k loaded, but we pull it often (sometimes up a 6000 ft change in elevation) but owning the dually would allow me to move up to a big old goose neck in a year or two.

Ill never go back from dually,i love it,i can trow anything on my bed and it dont show when u get behind the weel...
also my trailer is not a 5th wheel since i will loose my bed while towing a trailer so my 24' flat bed trailer is hitched on my bumper hitch but i made a stronger one and i put air bad under the axle to help a bit!
i also got a weight leveler but i didnt installed it yet !!! must be 8 month sitting on a shelve!

Dually or not depends on where you park when you do your daily driving. I looked at a dually before I bought my truck. I would have gotten it but on the test drive I didn't like the width, all I could think of is the customers I call on every day and their tiny little parking spots. When I retire or loose this job I will go dually, but for now it is not practicle for me.

Looks like Im going to end up in a 2500 single and not the dually. while I really enjoyed driving it, etc, it just seems like over kill right now.
the 2500 should do just fine for the next 5- 10 years
Anything I should know about as a first time 'dez owner? The biggest thing is going to be remembering not to put GAS in the tank!

I when I tow with my 2500, I am right at 22k-24k gross weight. You will have no problem towing a 6k trailer with a 2500. The mileage on the diesel is going to more than make up for the extra cost of diesel (diesel is only higher in the winter). The 2500 has 2 less tires to fool with and will fit into any parking space or drive thru. It will also have a little bit smoother ride than the 3500 when empty.
My two horse bumper pull when fully loaded is around 5k-6k and I get 15 MPG. I get around 10-11MPG. when pulling the 30ft gooseneck (14-16k) and 20-21MPG in the summer when empty, winter time subtract about 2MPG when empty.
