Depends on what you wanna do. Light duty (pickups), equipment, marine, otr trucks, gen sets, trains ect ect

Edit: ohh yeah if your looking for a job, we could use about another 8 wrenchers just at my location alone.

Go for it Finny!
I wanted to get in the diesel field , but I couldn't afford to go to school .
So I leaned on my welding skills and I've done all right with that , but
I still wish I could have went to school.
Just think before ya know it you could be another jakebrake
and be solving all of are problems.
hahaha

Nope jake your screwed.
Your job might be needing 8 more techs , but I think the forum needs about
20 more , just so we have a 24hr 7 day a week service.

i never went to school, im almost 23 and started when i was 18 for a fulltime job out of highschool. i started at a garbage truck comepany (whick sucked) doing pm services and eventually learned brakes, and tires, and went on from there, im not doin to bad now, pretty much run my own shift at night for a fleet that owns 70 construction trucks (dump trucks and day cab tractors with bottom feed trailers) that transport asphalt, sand, stone, concrete...salt snow. i am great at welding which i love doing, im young enough to get into the career, i just dont know where to start, i would love to be a welde3r...but anyways, just get into one, and start from the bottom like i did, and worko ur way up...in my opinion its the best way to go

We're not union. We do everything from brakes, clutches, trans, rearends, wheelbase adjustments (including extending frames), drop axles, fifthwheels, engine overhauls, suspensions, motor home work, services, alignments, ect ect ect. Pretty much anything to do with medium duty and heavy duty trucks. We do work on spider's (mofet's) occasionally, sometimes boats (cause the shop across the alley doesn't really know jack about diesels)
