Default break in procedure for new 5.9

i've been searching for a while through these forums to try to find a break-in procedure that everyone agrees on. that will probably never happen, so i'll try to get the next best with a majority vote. the most common i found was the "drive it like you stole it" theory. in this practice, is it a constant pedal to the floorboard deal or more like a lot of stopping a going with hard throttling? for how many miles am i supposed to do this? i only have about 500 miles on it right now, and it will take a while do get in the higher mileages... i expect to hit maybe 3000mi by 2010. i have to drive my company truck, f-250 powerjoke quadcab longbox for work, which is a 24/7 deal (con- dont get to drive the cummins much, pro- i get to have a brand new truck for a long time!). so, i might be able to put on a few miles a week until vacation times. which brings me to another question... i know i am supposed to see greater fuel mileage after about 10,000 miles, how soon before i see an increase in power, or will i? kinda disappointed that my joke takes off the line faster and increases speed faster and can overtake traffic faster... and finally, kinda OT, a stock 2500 cummins vs. stock 2500 hemi, same year, which will have it off the line and in acceleration?

our trucks don't have a break in period... says it right in the owners manual so, the drive it like you stole it theory is a good one

The Cummins will smoke the hemi off the line and at the ned of the 1/4 !

It still amazes me how the harder you drive these, the better happier they are.

hate to say it but yeah.... its the new '08 powerjoke. thats why i was hoping my cummins would get faster as it 'broke in" which apparently the cummins dont need to do. my cummins is a new '07 quadcab 4x4 5.9. the ford is 2x4, but i didnt think that would make that much of a difference

I don't know my wifes brother bought one like yours and it is pretty fast. But i havn't drove a stock 6.4 power joke so I can't be sure. Another thing to think about is the gears, If you have a high gear in your dodge and a low gear in the ford it may be fast to a certain speed.

BTW do you have more pics of your truck
