Do you think its a good idea to get a cord for my block heater if its droppin into the 20s possible lower, goin home for a few weeks and its colder there, so is this something I should mess with, its should be less that $30 so its not like a big money problem....

BTW, Drops into the 30s alot over NWFlorida winter....

IDK but I have discovered that even after my truck is warmed up and I have driven several miles, if I stop at a store for not even a minute and turn the truck off, when I get back in an start it up, my heater grid starts cycleing all over again for a few minutes.

Yeah truck always starts fine just wondering if this will make it easier on it for them cold mourning starts...

My grid heater does that to....think it maybe be triggered by the ambient air temp? not to sure...

For the price of a vcord, go with it. Always to have it available and not use it, then to want it and not have it there.

I just bought one at the dealership, (I pay cost plus 10%), only to find one was already installed. I bought the truck last summer after it had been leased, so I will be taking mine back.

Looks easy to install, just a little tight betting in there.

Yeah it is; if the temp is under I believe 60 it kicks it over.

For the cost of the part and the piece of mind it give knowing that if you gotta go somewhere first thing in the AM you're not stressing the system any more than it needs to be yeah I'd get it and do the driveway install.

Do you HAVE to have it @ 20....no it will fire just fine and be happy as a clam doing it.

the grid heater is good down to -20F. . .if we ever saw temps below 10-0F in Atl I would consider installing the plug on my truck, but right now I dont have one.

Like Drew said these engine will start at below zero temps. I’ve started mine at zero before I got my cord and it started with out any problems with just one grid heater cycle. I plug mine in 2 hours before I start it if the air temp will be 15 degrees or colder when I go to start it. The main reason I plug it in at 15 degrees or colder is that I don’t like my engine to jump to 1,100 RPM when it first starts up. I also like to be able to back it out of the garage 20 seconds after start up so as to not fill the garage with a lot of exhaust fumes [:'(]

I had one day last winter I forgot to plug my truck in it got to-30 without wind ,with wind it was -60. and wanted to see if it would start. so I cranked the starter for a couple of seconds. and it said Nooo wayy . I plugged it in for 2 hours and it started like it was summer..
