Default Clutch prob when brakes applied

I have an 02 3500 6 speed with 110,000 miles. When I start motor and don't apply the brakes the gears shift easy, but when I apply brake I can no longer shift into any gear. I have considered replacing master clutch and slave cylinders, but i'm not sur that these are the problems. Any thoughts ?

If you try letting up slowly on the clutch with your foot on hte brake does it eventually pop into gear? Sorta like letting the input shaft rotate a little to line up splines and shift collars in the trans.

Doesn't even budge, but as soon as I let off the brake, it slides into gear no problem.

this is kinda odd seeing that the clutch and brakes have no common part. however I wouldnt rule out the possability of either the clutch master or slave cylinder going out.

Ya, that didn’t make any sense to me either considering there is no connection. I decided to start the truck up and this time gears shifted fine. I took it for a drive and there was no problem until I came to about my third stop. At this point I was unable to shift gears at all. I turned off engine and put it in to first gear and started it up again. I was then able to drive normally shifting smooth. I have no idea why the clutch would work fine and then not work at all.

maybe the pilot bearing is hanging up and keeping the input shaft spinning? Still doesn't relate to brakes though

the pilot bearing was one of the problems with my yoda. . .along with the syncro's. . .but it was hard to shift all the time. . . .makes me wonder if some of the seals in your master cylinder for the clutch has gone out and are allowing some blow by.
